Another Porto began with a simple feeling: that the most memorable way to know a place is not simply visit it, but to experience it.

To walk its streets without rushing.

To sit at a table with someone who cares deeply cares about what they make

To discover a small shop, a hidden courtyard, a local wine, a piece of craft - and understand the story behind it.

We created Another Porto to share the city we know and love through experiences that feel personal, thoughtful and deeply connected to the place.

I came to Porto as a traveller. I stayed because the city changed me.

I arrived in Portugal in 2022, just after Covid, when the world still felt like a strange and unfamiliar place.

I arrived in Lisbon at night and began travelling through Portugal. I walked, explored, wandered and travelled without quite knowing where I was going. Yet, for many different reasons, I kept coming back to Porto.

Over time, I began to understand why.

Porto became the place where I became a mother. It gave me a sense of freedom I had not experienced before. And somewhere along the way, without making a conscious decision, it became home.

When I first arrived, I did what most visitors do. I went to the famous places, explored the city centre, saw the landmarks and moved on.

But the more I travelled, the more I realised that what stays with us is rarely a list of places we have ticked off.

It is the essence of a place that allows us to understand it.

Not simply what a city offers its visitors, but what gives it character. What shapes its rhythm. What makes it distinct.

So, what is Porto?

Of course, Porto is its historic centre, its granite buildings, its steep streets, its bridges and the Douro.

But that is only part of the story.

Porto is a city shaped by movement — by people who arrived, people who left, and people who stayed. It has been shaped by workers, immigrants, artists, merchants and generations of families who have made their lives here.

It is a city deeply rooted in its history, yet constantly changing.

A city of contradictions: intimate and imposing, traditional and inventive, melancholic and exuberant.

A city united — and divided — by its river.
